In the 1970’s the founder Nanny Glerup was encouraged to enroll on a felting course. The result was a pair of slippers for her husband Ove, and he found them so comfortable that he wore them everywhere. The slippers caught the attention of family and friends, and soon Nanny was making two pairs per day. After buying an old farm in 1985, they were able to change Nanny’s hobby into a small-scale production.
Glerups started with wool from their own Gotland sheep. Over the years they have found the perfect mix of wool to give your glerups a long life. They mix high quality wool from New Zealand, all of which lives up to the highest standards for uniform quality and animal welfare. 100% pure natural wool is used for our slippers, which have either a soft leather sole or natural rubber.
Glerups is our flagship Danish brand and a linchpin in our hygge selections. If you want to be cozy, choose glerups.
